CAN-Bridge · display · 5G / 7G-Tronic
A round screen you tap into the CAN bus of a Mercedes gearbox to instantly see what the automatic is really doing: the selected P-R-N position, the gear while driving, the drive program, ATF oil and engine temperature, speed and RPM. It reads the bus passively — it transmits nothing of its own — and understands both CAN-Bus generations, older and newer, with no switch to set.
What you see on the screen
Six readouts taken straight from the gearbox and engine bus, laid out clearly on a 1.28" face.
A large, clear selector-position symbol: P, R, N, and while driving the number of the current gear from 1 to 7 — exactly the one the gearbox controller reports.
Above the gear, the letter of the active gearbox program: comfort, standard, manual, winter, aggressive. You see at once which mode the automatic is in.
ATF oil temperature in degrees, with an arc that changes colour: blue until warm, green in the working range, red when the oil is too hot.
Engine coolant temperature with a matching arc on the other side of the screen — a full thermal picture of gearbox and engine side by side.
Vehicle speed in km/h on the top panel, derived from the same bus the gearbox uses for vehicle-motion data.
Engine RPM on the bottom panel, with a segmented bar that grows with the revs — readable at a glance.
How it works
The display only listens to the bus and acknowledges frames — it sends no data of its own and does not interfere with the gearbox communication. Connecting it changes nothing in how the car runs.
It recognises the older and newer generation of Mercedes frames in parallel. You don't pick a model year or controller type — the screen simply reads whatever is on the bus.
12 V power, ground and the CAN-H / CAN-L pair of the gearbox bus. Four wires are all it takes to bring the screen to life — no configuration, no app.
What it's for
For 5G-Tronic and 7G-Tronic swaps — a permanent read-out of gear, program and temperatures in a car that doesn't show them from the factory.
A quick check of what the gearbox reports on the bus — without hooking up a laptop. Handy when commissioning and adjusting an install.
As an extra gauge next to the factory dash — gear, program and ATF temperature within a glance.
